Maria graduated from the Cumberland College of Health Sciences with a Bachelor of Science – Occupational Therapy in 1989 and has been with Scope Home Access since 2005. Maria’s previous experience includes in Health Promotion, Day Club Consultancy and Community Occupational Therapy (OT) with Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA), in mental health with community and hospital transitional programs, and the Aged Care Assessment Team. She has specialised in home modifications for the past 16 years.

Maria provides OT services for clients under My Aged Care (MAC), including Home Care Packages and independent referrals, DVA and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Her particular areas of interest and training are with complex home modifications, Dementia specific interventions, and Veteran’s health and wellbeing.

While at Scope Home Access helped to establish our OT service in 2005, supported home modification skill development amongst both OT students and local OTs through support groups and the Mod Squad newsletter, presented at staff forums and MODA conferences, and recently worked with students to develop Falls Prevention resources for our OT service.

“It is a privilege to meet with people in their own homes and to find solutions to enable them to remaining independent, safe and supported at home. OT is never boring - I’m always learning new things and growing new skills.”

When not working Maria enjoys our local environment though bushwalking, cycling, boating and swimming. She also loves music and reading.
