What is a Home Care Package?

A home care package is a fixed amount of money allocated by the federal government to an older person to help pay for services that enable them to live independently. There are four levels of home care packages which receive different amounts of government funding. The level you are assigned will depend upon the extent of your needs and care requirements, with Level 1 representing those with the lowest care needs, and Level 4 the highest.

The package recipient does not receive the money directly. Instead, they are allocated a code which they take to an approved home care package provider who will help them access services.

Once you have chosen a package provider, you’ll work collaboratively with them to determine the care and services you access, within your package budget. Your provider will then pay for these services using the government funding included in your package.

I have a home care package, how do I arrange a Scope service?

Contact your package provider and explain which service you would like to receive.

If the service you are requesting is within the scope of your home care package, your package provider will refer to Scope Home Access to arrange a quote for service.

Scope will provide a quote for works to your home care package provider. Your package provider will contact you to discuss this quote prior to approval.

If the quote is approved, we will contact you to arrange a time to carry out the work.
